Champagne Prévoteau-Perrier is a family business based in Damery (Marne Valley), a few kilometres from Épernay, and was founded in 1946 by Henri Prévoteau and Alice Perrier. The house is currently managed by the fifth generation, Delphine and Christophe, who continue the family tradition with a focus on sustainable viticulture.
History
The brand name arose after the marriage of Henri and Alice, who combined their names for the champagne production. Since its foundation in 1946 the business has grown from a small family business into a recognised champagne house, with the son Patrice and his wife Claude taking care of the expansion of the business in the 1960s. Today Delphine and Christophe run the business, with an emphasis on preserving family values and the artisanal craftsmanship that has existed for more than 70 years.
Vineyards
The estate has 22 hectares of vineyards (some sources say 30 hectares), ideally spread over different terroirs:
- Damery and surroundings: At the start of the Marne Valley.
- Coteaux Sud d'Épernay: Southern slopes of Épernay.
- Chouilly: A Grand Cru area known for its Chardonnay.
- Mesnil-sur-Oger: Also a Grand Cru area, whose grapes are used in the blends.
The grapes are grown with respect for nature, with a strong focus on sustainable viticulture and HVE certification (Haute Valeur Environnementale).
Approach
Prévoteau-Perrier makes reasoned culture (balanced farming) a priority, with ecological methods at the centre. Each cuvée rests 2 to 5 years in the cellars to reach perfect maturity. The process includes cultivation as well as harvest and vinification, with passion for the trade noticeable in every vintage. Visitors can visit the cellars by appointment and taste in the warm and refined setting of the house.
Champagnes
The house offers a wide range of champagnes, including:
- Rosé Champagne: Available for tasting and direct sale.
- Various Cuvées: Made from grapes from its own vineyards in Damery, Épernay, Chouilly and Mesnil-sur-Oger.
- Direct sales: The champagnes can be bought at the estate's own wine cellar in Damery, with delivery possible throughout France.
Visitors are invited for tastings by appointment (Monday to Saturday), sharing the family's passion and philosophy. The house is known for its excellent value for money and the elegance of its champagnes.
