The champagne house Maxime Blin is a family-run business in Trigny (Massif de Saint-Thierry), founded in 1947 by the ancestors, with Maxime Blin taking over the business in 2009 from his father Gilles (who also runs R. Blin et Fils). The vineyards cover 12-13 hectares and have been fully organically certified (AB) since 2021. The grape varieties are Pinot Noir (40-50%), Pinot Meunier (30%) and Chardonnay (25-30%), with a soil characteristic of the sandy terroir of Trigny.
The approach is characterised by mono-cru champagnes (only grapes from Trigny) and a modern approach with stainless steel tanks, oak barrels and ceramic eggs for vinification, with the wines ageing for a long time on the lees for complexity. The estate produces approximately 95,000 bottles of organic champagne a year, with attention to soil health and biodiversity.
Some striking cuvées are:
- Grande Tradition: An Extra Brut (often Chardonnay-dominant) that was distinguished with a "coup de cœur" in the Hachette Guide.
- Clé d'Éole: An Extra Brut that is vinified and aged in oak barrels, produced in small runs.
- Carte Blanche: A Brut Nature (no added sugar) with a high concentration of Pinot Meunier.
- Rosé d'Assemblage and L'Authentique Rosé de Saignée: Rosés that emphasise the fruitiness and finesse of the terroir.
- Millésime: Vintage champagnes, such as the 2010 and 2014, often as Blanc de Noirs or with a dominant Pinot Noir.
