History The champagne house was founded in 1955 by Maurice Vesselle in Bouzy, at the foot of the Côte des Noirs. Today the business is run by his sons Didier and Thierry Vesselle, who form the fourth generation and manage the family heritage with passion.
Vineyards and Terroir The vineyards cover approximately 7.5 to 9 hectares and lie exclusively on Grand Cru land in the municipalities of Bouzy and Tours-sur-Marne. The soil is argilo-calcaire with a southern exposure, ideal for the dominant 80% Pinot Noir, supplemented with 20% Chardonnay.
Winemaking The Vesselle brothers are known for their deep ploughing of the vineyards to emphasise the terroir. They use a vinification method without malolactic fermentation, so that the champagnes retain their freshness and finesse. The house is certified Haute Valeur Environnementale (HVE) and produces approximately 60,000 bottles a year.
Champagnes and Cuvées The collection includes various cuvées, including:
- Brut Millésime: A blend of 85% Pinot Noir and 15% Chardonnay, aged for at least 8 years.
- Les Hauts Chemins: A 100% Pinot Noir cuvée from specific plots, aged for at least 10 years.
- Bouzy Rouge: A rare red wine from Bouzy, made using traditional methods.
- Rosé Grand Cru: Obtained by short maceration of Pinot Noir, without the addition of red wine.
- Millésimes: The house is known for its extensive collection of vintage champagnes, ranging from 1976 to recent years.
