Champagne Mathieu-Gandon is a récoltant-manipulant in Baslieux-sous-Châtillon, in the Vallée de la Marne, run by Séverine and Fabien Mathieu. Over time the vineyard has grown between the Vallée de la Marne and the Montagne de Reims.
Approach
The couple tend each plot with care so that the wines reflect the diversity of their terroir, and are guided by intuition and common sense when making their wines.
Champagnes
- Saveur: 60% pinot noir and 40% chardonnay, brut (5 g/l).
- Esprit Brut and Brut Nature: one third each of chardonnay, pinot noir and meunier, dosed at 7 g/l and 0 g/l respectively.
- Rosé: blended rosé with 10% red wine.
- Rosé de Saignée: 100% meunier from a single plot planted in 1959, without malolactic fermentation or filtration.
- Blanc de Noirs Verzy Grand Cru 2016: 100% pinot noir, extra brut.
- Blanc de Blancs Verzy Grand Cru 2018: 100% chardonnay, zero dosage.
