Champagne Mater & Filii is a family house in Dormans, in the Vallée de la Marne, which owns the vineyards it farms. The Pottin and Dhuicq families have been present in Champagne since at least 1687.
History
The name refers to the handing down from mother to son: after 25 years in banking, Jérôme Dhuicq left his career to take over the family estate and chose 'Mater & Filii' as a tribute to his mother. The cellar masters and oenologists are Adrien Millot and Jérôme Corbon, who has headed the société vinicole of Troissy since 2004.
Vineyards
The vineyard lies on the terroirs of Troissy and Dormans, spread over some twelve plots, mostly planted with meunier. The oldest vines are 48 years old, the youngest 9. The house follows viticulture raisonnée.
Champagnes
The range includes Tradition (meunier and pinot noir), Crescendo (chardonnay and meunier, millésime 2018), Dégustation (chardonnay and pinot noir), Symphonie (meunier), Fût de Chêne, a Blanc de Noirs, a Blanc de Blancs, Eximia 2015, Clos David and Cœur de Vallée. Visits and tastings in Dormans and Maisons-Laffitte are by appointment.
