Champagne Louis de Chatet is a brand of the Pierre Launay family house in Barbonne-Fayel, in the Côte de Sézanne.
- History: The house of Pierre Launay has been active in the Sézannais since 1973. Louis de Chatet was created in January 2018 as a brand for the trade (wine merchants) and for export. Three brothers, Laurent, Lionel and Jérôme, run the estate together as independent growers.
- Vineyards and terroir: The estate covers 14 hectares. Two-thirds lie on the chalky slopes of the Côte de Sézanne, mainly planted with Chardonnay; the remaining third is in the Côte des Bar, where Pinot Noir dominates.
- Approach and style: Harvesting is done entirely by hand. According to Gault&Millau, the non-vintage wines age for at least six years and the vintage cuvées for at least ten before release.
- Cuvées: Signature is made from 70% Chardonnay and 30% Pinot Noir, Privilège from 70% Pinot Noir and 30% Chardonnay. Séduction is a rosé de saignée from Pinot Noir, Émotion a blanc de blancs.
