History‌ The champagne house Lancelot-Pienne is 120 years old and is managed by the fifth generation. Jean-Baptiste Lancelot, a former chef-vigneron at Mumm, laid the foundations in Cramant; his son Jean began selling under his own name after the Second World War. In 1967 the vineyards of the Lancelot and Pienne families merged (through the marriage of Albert and Brigitte), after which their son Gilles Lancelot (oenologist) has been in charge since 2005.

Vineyards The estate covers approximately 8.5 hectares in Cramant (Côte des Blancs) and other areas, divided into more than 60 small plots. The vines have an average age of 40 to 45 years. The grape varieties are:

Chardonnay (Grand Cru): Cramant, Avize, Chouilly.
Pinot Meunier: Mainly in the Vallée de la Marne (Boursault) and Coteaux Sud d'Épernay.
Pinot Noir: Boursault and Moncy.

Winemaking Gilles Lancelot follows a philosophy of respect for the terroir and practises lutte raisonnée (optimised pest control) rather than strict organic farming. Vinification takes place in thermostatic stainless steel tanks to preserve the fresh, mineral characteristics of the grapes. Exogenous yeasts are used for controlled fermentation. The champagnes are not oaked (no wood), which strengthens the pure expression of the terroirs.

Marie Lancelot: Vintage 100% Chardonnay Grand Cru from Cramant.
Perceval: Vintage blend of Grand Cru Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from Boursault.
Instant Présent: Blanc de Blancs (100% Chardonnay), focused on freshness.
Accord Majeur: Extra Brut blend of the three main varieties.
Tradition: Brut blend embodying the family tradition.
