History: Champagne Henriot was founded in 1808 by Apolline Henriot (née Godinot) in Reims, as the eleventh house of the region. It remained an independent family business until 2023, after which it was sold to Terroirs et Vignerons de Champagne (a cooperative union). Historically the house was taken over several times, including by Veuve Clicquot and later LVMH, before the family bought it back in 1994.
Vineyards: The vines are located on the Montagne de Reims (mainly Pinot Noir in crus such as Verzenay and Mailly) and the Côte des Blancs (mainly Chardonnay in crus such as Avize and Le Mesnil-sur-Oger). In 2014 the house acquired the Les Aulnois estate, bringing the total area under its own management to about 35 hectares. The vineyards are worked according to sustainable viticulture principles.
Winemaking: The house's philosophy combines Pinot Noir structure with Chardonnay elegance, a legacy of Paul Henriot's marriage in 1880. The method is characterised by the use of an extensive collection of reserve wines (up to 50% in the non-vintage cuvées) and long ageing on the lees in the underground cellars of Reims. Since 2020 the house has been led by cellar master Alice Tétienne.
Champagnes: The collection comprises five main cuvées:
- Brut Souverain: Reference cuvée with approx. 50% Pinot Noir and 45% Chardonnay from 29 crus, aged >3 years.
- Blanc Souverain: 100% Chardonnay from 12 crus, aged >3 years.
- Millésime: Vintage cuvée from premier and grands crus, aged >8 years (e.g. 2015).
- Rosé: Blend of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Meunier.
- Cuve 38 Réserve Perpétuelle: 100% Chardonnay from four grands crus, based on a perpetual reserve since 1990 (bottled from 2007).
