Champagne Godinat et Fils is a family business based in Binson-Orquigny (Marne department), where the house has been carrying out commercial activities since 1950, although the official legal form as an SARL was established on 24 June 1991. The successive generations, including René (founder of commercial sales), Gérard (takeover in 1975) and current manager Reynald Godinat (takeover in 1998), run the operation, which extends over 8 hectares of vineyards.
The vineyards lie on the right bank of the Marne Valley, between Dormans and Épernay, with a southern exposure that is favourable for ripening. The estate has two main grape varieties: Pinot Meunier (two thirds) and Chardonnay (one third), with some sources also mentioning Pinot Noir and Pinot Blanc. The entire production chain, from picking and pressing to bottling, finishing and disgorgement, is carried out by the family itself, with the champagnes delivered directly to customers throughout France.
The range comprises three specific cuvées:
- Brut Tradition: A fresh and fruity profile, composed of 75% Pinot Meunier and 25% Chardonnay; this variant contains no sugar (Brut 0) and is suitable for diabetics.
- Brut Rosé: A rosé champagne that is also part of the range.
- Brut Millésimé: A noble and elegant vintage champagne that depends on the harvest of a single year, without the addition of reserve wines. This blend consists of 60% Chardonnay and 40% Pinot Meunier and ages for 36 months in the house's cellars.
