History: The house was founded in 1895 by Hippolyte Dumangin, after an interruption caused by the phylloxera plague, and has been run since 2001 by Gilles Dumangin (fifth generation). The family has a centuries-old tradition of winegrowing in Chigny-les-Roses, a Premier Cru village in the Montagne de Reims.
Vineyards: The estate has roughly 5 to 10 hectares of its own vineyards, supplemented with purchased grapes, consisting mainly of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier. The soil is rich in limestone and clay, which contributes to the fruity and complex characteristics of the champagnes.
Method: Dumangin follows balanced viticulture (raisonnée) and minimises chemical treatments. Winemaking includes temperature control in stainless steel tanks, partial oak ageing and long ageing in the cellar (at least 3 years for non-vintage, up to 14 years for Ratafia). Manual riddling and ice disgorgement (dégorgement à la glace) ensure high quality, with the dosage sometimes aged in fragrant oak barrels.
Champagnes: The range includes various Premier Cru cuvées, such as the Trio des Ancêtres (monocépages in wood), Blanc de Blancs Premium Single Vineyard, and Vintage champagnes. The house is also known for its Ratafia Champenois and exclusive Whisky that matures in oak barrels previously used for Ratafia.
