Champagne Damien Dumez is a family house in Sacy, in the Montagne de Reims, overlooking Reims. The family has been working in the vineyard for more than half a century; its ancestors were already tending the slopes of Sacy in the 16th century.
History In the early 1950s the parents of the current couple created the brands Damien Dézautez and Dumez Lemoine; the latter is still sold at the estate. A few years later the two families were united and the Damien Dumez brand was born. The estate is now in its third generation of growers.
Vineyards The vineyards lie in Sacy, Chamery, Écueil, Sermiers and Villedommange and are planted with Pinot Meunier, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Harvesting is done exclusively by hand.
Approach The three grape varieties are carefully blended, after which the champagnes rest for many years in the cellars.
Champagnes
- Brut Tradition (40% Chardonnay, 30% Pinot Noir, 30% Pinot Meunier and reserve wines), also as demi-sec
- Brut Sélection (mainly Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay)
