Champagne Caillez-Lemaire is an independent family business in Damery (Vallée de la Marne), founded in 1942 by Raymond Caillez and Andrée Lemaire, children of winegrowing families dating back to the 18th century. Since 2005 the estate has been run by their granddaughter Virginie Caillez and her husband Laurent Vanpoperinghe.
- Vineyards: The estate has 6 to 7 hectares of vineyard, divided into 37 to 45 plots within a radius of 6 km. The plots lie in five villages: Damery (premier cru), Cumières, Hautvillers, Fleury-la-Rivière and Vauciennes. The soils vary from chalky to clay and sand.
- Approach: The estate has been certified organic (Ecocert) since August 2023 and has used no insecticides since the 1990s. Vinification takes place largely in oak barrels (228 litres), often without filtration, fining or malolactic fermentation, to preserve freshness and complexity.
- Champagnes: The core collection includes Reflets Extra-Brut (a blend of three grape varieties), Éclats Extra-Brut (Chardonnay-dominant) and the Jadis millésime (e.g. 2010/2011, 60% Chardonnay, 30% Pinot Noir, 10% Meunier). Pur Meunier and Chardonnay de la Vallée (100% of the respective grape) are also produced.
The estate produces approximately 60,000 bottles a year and combines traditional craftsmanship with a modern, environmentally conscious vision. Visits and tastings are possible at 14 Rue Pierre Curie, 51480 Damery.
