History: Champagne Bonvalet was founded in 2012 by Guillaume and Pauline Bonvalet in Pierry, without any family heritage or inherited vineyards. The first cuvées were produced in 2014 and in 2022 the house officially received the prestigious title of Maison de Champagne.
Vineyards and Sourcing: As there is no land of its own, the house buys grapes through strict plot-by-plot selection in renowned terroirs such as Bisseuil, Saulcy, Ambonnay, Grauves and Pierry. The wines are labelled HVE 3 (Haute Valeur Environnementale) and Terra Vitis, with a strong focus on biodiversity and sustainability.
Approach: The house style combines freshness and minerality with depth through vinification in Burgundy oak barrels. The house uses exclusively jus de première cuvée (the first pressing) and lets all champagnes undergo malolactic fermentation. In addition there is its own distillery ("Gaston") for producing spirits such as gin and whisky from residual products.
Champagnes: The core collection consists of seven cuvées, including:
- Brut Suprême: A blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
- Blanc Suprême: A 1er Cru blanc de blancs of Chardonnay.
- Épopée: A blend of the three traditional champagne grapes (Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Meunier).
- Marpésia: A rosé champagne.
- Horae: A millésime (vintage) 1er Cru.
- Kosmos and Amas Stellaire: Specialities of Chardonnay and Chardonnay-Meunier respectively.
