Bigard is a récoltant-manipulant in Montgueux, a small chalky winegrowing island some 10 km west of Troyes. For three generations, from father to son, the family has harvested its own grapes and vinified its own wines.
Vineyards
- All the vines grow on the Montgueux terroir, a hill of about 270 metres with Turonian chalk, red clay and flint.
- Mainly Chardonnay; Pinot Noir is grown only for the blends.
- Certified HVE.
Methods
- The house is one of the last to carry out champagnisation by hand.
- Careful ageing and blending of reserve wines; the champagnes age for at least three years on lattes.
- A member of the collective brand Les Champagnes de Vignerons.
Champagnes
- Cuvée Réserve: 70% Chardonnay, 30% Pinot Noir.
- Cuvée Prestige: 50% Chardonnay, 50% Pinot Noir.
- Rosé: Chardonnay with Pinot Noir vinified as red wine.
- Chardonnay (Blanc de Blancs), as Brut and as Demi-Sec.
