Champagne Adam-Jaeger is a family business based in Berru (Mont de Berru, eastern Champagne), specialising in Blanc de Blancs champagnes made from Chardonnay. The brand was officially founded in 1995 through the merger of two houses: the Adam house (6 hectares, active for 3 generations) and the Jaeger house (3 hectares, active for 4 generations). According to its own website and Facebook page, however, seven generations of winegrowers have been handed down, with Régis and Virginie Adam currently in charge.
The vineyards cover 8 hectares divided over three different terroirs, notably on the chalk slopes of Mont de Berru. The grapes are grown using "tailored" (made-to-measure) viticulture that focuses on biodiversity and high environmental standards; the estate is certified under the High Environmental Value label. The Chardonnay from Berru is known for its minerality, finesse and floral notes, thanks to the underlying limestone.
The approach is characterised by 100% cuvée, fermentation with selected wild yeast, malolactic fermentation and a minimum ageing of 3 years in bottle. A small portion is vinified in barrels and the dosage is a family secret. The champagnes are praised for their freshness, delicate style and ethereal quality.
The range includes various cuvées, including:
- Cuvée Tradition Blanc de Blancs: A lively brut with white fruit and subtle minerality.
- Blanc de Blancs Millésime: Made exclusively in outstanding vintages (e.g. 2007 and 2013), with aromas of roasted almonds and yellow fruit.
- Brut Nature and Réserve: Variants that emphasise the pure expression of the terroir.
