Berru lies in the Marne department, about ten kilometres east of Reims, at the foot of the Mont de Berru. This outlier hill rises above the chalk plain and gives its name to the small terroir of the Monts de Berru. The village has no cru classification.
- Vineyards: the slopes are known above all for their chardonnay, which is used to make blanc de blancs here. The terroir is regarded as one of the coolest and most northerly in Champagne; the hill gets relatively little rain but a lot of wind, so the vines dry out quickly.
- Character: the wines are fresh and taut, with lively acidity. Major houses have traditionally been keen buyers of chardonnay from this hill.
- Producers: those working in the village include Adam-Jaeger and Le Chapitre, and Berru has its own cooperative cellar.
