Saint-Thierry lies in the Marne department, a few kilometres north-west of Reims, and gives its name to the Massif de Saint-Thierry, the northernmost part of the Champagne appellation. The village has no cru classification.
- Vineyards: the vineyards lie on the slopes of the massif, interspersed with woods. Meunier is the main grape in this area, complemented by pinot noir and chardonnay.
- Character: the champagnes are fruity and fresh, befitting this cool, northern terroir.
- Producers: in the village, Lemaire Père & Fils, among others, makes champagne.
- History: Saint-Thierry is best known for its abbey. Visitors can see the former chapter house with its carved capitals, where nuns once again live today.
Every two years the massif's wine association organises an old-style harvest festival, which rotates between the fifteen wine villages of the Massif de Saint-Thierry.
