Couvrot is a village in the Marne department (51), on the Marne just north-west of Vitry-le-François. It belongs to the Vitryat, the small wine area around Vitry, and has no cru status.
- Vineyards: the vineyards of the Coteaux Vitryats, also known as the Perthois viticole, are planted predominantly with chardonnay and lie on chalk slopes.
- Character: chardonnay from the Vitryat gives fresh, taut champagnes.
- Producers: Couvrot is home to Champagne Bourcier, among others.
The Vitryat is one of the smaller and lesser-known parts of Champagne. Viticulture there is concentrated on the slopes around Vitry-le-François, amid a landscape otherwise dominated by arable farming.
