Broyes lies in the Sézannais, just north of Sézanne in the Marne department, on the edge of the plateau that slopes down to the Champagne plain. The commune has no cru status.
The vineyards of the Sézannais lie on slopes with a varied subsoil: within a few kilometres, clay-rich and chalk-rich soils alternate. Chardonnay is the main grape, complemented by Pinot Noir. The champagnes are generally ripe and approachable, with a rounder fruit expression than those from the Côte des Blancs further north.
