Bergères-les-Vertus lies in the Marne department (51), at the southern tip of the Côte des Blancs, directly south of Vertus. Above the village rises the Mont Aimé, an isolated chalk hill with the remains of a medieval fortress.
- Cru: Bergères-les-Vertus has Premier Cru status.
- Vineyards: chardonnay predominates on the chalk slopes around the Mont Aimé; there is also some pinot noir, as in neighbouring Vertus.
- Character: chardonnay gives somewhat riper, fruity champagnes here than in the northern Grand Cru villages of the Côte des Blancs, with the freshness of the chalk soil.
- Producers: François Vallois, Naveau, Poirot and Riotton & Fils, among others, have their businesses here.
