Champagne Valérie et Gaël Dupont is a family business based in Reuves, founded by the couple Valérie and Gaël Dupont, who each come from winegrowing families. The history goes back to the 1950s, when Valérie's grandparents (Odette and Marc Mathieu) planted the first vineyards in Vert-Toulon and Gaël's grandparents (Claude Dupont) began in Broyes. The handover to the current generation took place gradually in the 2000s; in 2018 Valérie and Gaël decided to produce their own Champagne entirely, instead of only carrying out winegrowing work.
The vineyards cover 6 hectares of land, spread over 10 villages in the Marne department, from north to south. This geographical spread offers a great diversity of soil types, including limestone, clay and sand. The grape varieties are mainly Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier, complemented by Pinot Blanc. Besides winegrowing they also grow major crops such as wheat, barley and rapeseed.
The working method is strongly focused on agro-ecology and regenerative farming. Since 2023 the estate has been officially organically certified (AB), after the conversion started in 2020. The focus is on preserving biodiversity, life in the soil and the use of gentle methods such as phytotherapy and agroforestry. The grapes are harvested by hand and since 2019 they have been vinified separately to highlight the specific characteristics of each terroir.
The champagnes are known for their freshness, finesse and expressiveness. The range includes several cuvées, such as Brut Nature, Blanc de Blancs, Demi-Sec, Millésimé, Rosé and a Cuvée Tradition or Prestige. The champagnes are ideally served between 8 °C and 10 °C and go well with seafood, poultry and soft cheeses. The estate produces approximately 20,000 bottles per year and offers daily visits and tastings on request.
