Thuillier & Filles (Champagne Claude Thuillier) is a family house and récoltant-manipulant in Beaunay, 20 km south of Épernay and 10 km from the Côte des Blancs, in the continuation of the slopes of Vertus. The story begins with the family farm; in the 1950s the grandfather planted the first vines. His son Claude and his wife Corine planted up the plots completely, founded the house together and created their first cuvée in 1976. Their two daughters now work alongside them.
Vineyards The 6 hectares lie in Beaunay and Étoges, facing south-east and south-west, planted with Meunier, Chardonnay and a small share of Pinot Noir. The vines are farmed sustainably, with some plots grassed and pheromones used against vine pests.
Method The press, cuverie and cellar are on the estate, so the house works entirely independently. Sulphites are used sparingly and all cuvées age for at least 20 months in the cellar.
