Champagne Rémy Bertin is a champagne house based in Vincelles in the Vallée de la Marne, known for its family history and focus on Meunier. The house was originally founded in the 1960s by Henri Remy and Jeanine Bertin around their vineyards in Verneuil, but ceased activity in 1990. In 2018 the brand name was revived by their granddaughter Sandie Durdon and her husband Ludovic, who continue the family tradition and craftsmanship.
The champagnes are produced with a strong emphasis on the Meunier grape, which often makes up 80% of the blends, complemented by Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The winemaking follows the traditional method with hand harvesting and ageing on the lees, with the bottles disgorged at least 3 months before shipping. The house is known for its accessible and friendly approach, welcoming its guests "as friends".
Some notable cuvées from Rémy Bertin are:
- Réserve: A balanced and full blend of 80% Meunier and 20% Chardonnay with a dosage of 7 g/l, known for its floral aroma and fruity taste.
- Blanc de Noirs: A champagne made from black grapes, often with a golden colour and aromas of pastry and nougat.
- Blanc de Blancs: A 100% Chardonnay champagne that is fresh and intense, with notes of white fruit and citrus.
- Brut Nature: A dry style without added sugars (0 g/l), which highlights the pure expression of the terroir.
- Millésime: Vintage champagnes, such as the 2011, which are gourmand and structured with a long finish.
The champagne house offers tastings and direct sales at the estate at 13 rue de Verdun, 51700 Vincelles. The champagnes are often produced in cooperation with the cooperative H. Blin, founded in 1947 in nearby Vincelles.
