History: The Renaudin family has run the estate since 1724, when they succeeded the Comte de Failly (Pierre Louis). The original owner, a soldier under King Louis XVI, settled on the estate in Moussy. The current owner is Dominique Tellier-Renaudin, who runs the R. Renaudin brand. The house's philosophy is "L'effervescence du temps" (the effervescence of time).
Vineyards: The estate has 12 hectares of active vineyards (the total estate is 24 ha) in Pierry, Moussy and Chavot. The grape varieties are 40% Chardonnay and 60% Pinot Noir and Meunier, with an average age of 25 years. The soil is argilo-calcaire (clay-limestone), which provides freshness and elegance. Some plots are classified Premier Cru.
Working methods: The winemaking is characterised by the absence of malolactic fermentation, which preserves freshness. The wine ages for 8 months in barrels or 10 months in oak barrels, followed by bottle ageing of approximately 10 years. This long ageing is a unique feature of the house. The grapes are harvested by hand.
Champagnes:
- Cuvée Réserve: 100% Chardonnay from Moussy, Chavot and Pierry.
- Cuvée Espiègle: A vintage Blanc de Blancs (100% Chardonnay Premier Cru from Pierry), known for its freshness.
- L'Espiègle Rosé: A blend of 70% Chardonnay, 30% Pinot Noir and 8% Meunier (Moussy Rouge).
- Vintage 2005: An exclusive Blanc de Blancs of 100% Chardonnay Premier Cru from Pierry.
Visits to the estate are possible by appointment. The estate also offers accommodation in 7 gîtes ("Les Jardins du Moulin").
