Champagne Prophète & CO is a relatively young champagne house, founded in 2020 by the brother and sister Corentin and Océane Prophète (the "CO" duo). Production takes place at their family business, EARL Prophète, in Barbonne-Fayel (51120), located in the Coteaux du Sézannais, a region known for the dominant role of the Chardonnay grape variety.
Vineyards and Sustainable Practices
The Prophète & CO vineyards lie in the heart of the Côte des Blancs and are managed with great respect for the environment. The estate holds a double sustainability certification:
- HVE (Haute Valeur Environnementale): The French national certification for high environmental standards.
- VDC (Viticulture Durable en Champagne): A specific certification for sustainable viticulture in Champagne.
The family emphasises a "cool" and modern approach to champagne, focused on authenticity and harmony with nature.
Champagnes and Product Range
The house presents a young, dynamic identity with a range that runs from aperitif to dessert. The core of the range consists of:
- Four different cuvées, each with its own character and colour.
- Ratafia Champenois: A traditional liqueur made from green grapes.
The champagnes are recommended at a temperature of 8 to 10 degrees Celsius. The caveau (cellar) in Barbonne-Fayel has recently been renovated, partly thanks to co-financing from the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development, and offers tastings and tours.
