Prestige des Sacres is the champagne of a group of growers from Janvry, near Reims. In the early sixties René Lamblot and a handful of growers from Janvry decided to pool their strength and resources to create their own champagne. Today the group numbers 60 growers. The name pays tribute to the coronations in Reims, where 33 kings of France were crowned.
Vineyards The 115-hectare vineyard lies on the western slopes of the Montagne de Reims and is spread over 40 crus, 5 of them Premier Cru, with four different types of terroir. The growers practise sustainable viticulture (viticulture raisonnée).
Method The cuvées are made from the three Champagne grapes, exclusively from the group's own vineyard. They age in the cellar for longer than the AOC Champagne requires and rest for several further months after disgorgement.
