History: The champagne house was founded in 1902 by Henri Lebrun in Cramant, although the Lebrun family has been active in winegrowing since 1860 (some sources say 1836). Jules Lebrun dug the first cellars in the chalk rock, and his grandson Paul Lebrun founded the independent house brand in 1931. The estate is now run by Nathalie and Jean Vignier, the sixth generation of vignerons.
Vineyards: The estate manages 16 hectares of vineyards, planted exclusively with Chardonnay (100% Blanc de Blancs). The plots lie in Cramant (Grand Cru) and the Sézannais (Premier Cru), where the mineral freshness of the Côte des Blancs merges with the floral and fruity richness of the Sézannais.
Approach: The viticulture is traditional and manual, with attention to biodiversity and lunar cycles. The wines age in natural chalk cellars at a depth of 15 metres, sometimes for longer periods (e.g. 7 years for the Collection 120). The method is entirely Blanc de Blancs, without blending with other grape varieties.
Champagnes:
- Collection 120 Grand Héritage: A prestigious Grand Cru cuvée (e.g. millésime 2014), made from exceptional plots such as Les Charmières, with long ageing.
- Henri: An Extra-Brut Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs, scored 88/100.
- L'Irremplaçable: An accessible Brut Blanc de Blancs, scored 87/100.
- La Nature-Elle: A Brut Nature (zero dosage) that pays tribute to Aline Morizet, an early female figure in the history of the estate.
- Jules: A cuvée in honour of the founder of the first cellars, which emphasises the depth and resonance of the terroirs.
The estate is located at 65 Rue Nestor Gaunel, 51530 Cramant, and offers tastings on site.
