Champagne Marc Billiard & Fils is a family-run business based in Plivot (Marne), founded in 1883 and today run by Jonathan Billiard. The vineyards are located on the Premier Cru terroir of Avenay-Val-d'Or, about 10 km from Épernay, with a total of 2 hectares divided over 18 plots.
History and Winemaking
Production began in the 1800s, but champagnisation started around 1950 by Pierre-Alfred Billiard. The business is six to seven generations old and in 2021 obtained HVE 3 certification (Haute Valeur Environnementale) for sustainability and biodiversity. The vinification takes place entirely on site in stainless steel tanks without wood, to preserve the purity of the fruit.
Champagnes and Range
The focus is on 100% Premier Cru champagnes with a style that is fine, straight and true to the terroir. Jonathan Billiard creates both historic cuvées and exclusive, limited editions such as Chardonnay Héritage and Terres Elémentaires (launched in March 2025). The wines emphasise the specific characteristics of the chalk, clay and sandy soils of the area, which acts as a bridge between the Montagne de Reims and the Côte des Blancs.
