Champagne Jean Vesselle is a family estate in Bouzy, a Grand Cru village in the Montagne de Reims. The Vesselle family has been working the chalky soils of Bouzy for nearly three hundred years.
- Vineyards and terroir: As is typical for Bouzy, the estate centres on Pinot Noir, sourced in and around the Grand Cru village.
- Approach and style: Jean Vesselle is one of the few growers to have revived the old tradition of Œil de Perdrix: a champagne with an amber hue, somewhere between blanc de noirs and rosé. The colour comes from contact between the juice and the Pinot Noir skins, without adding red wine, and is not filtered out.
- Cuvées: The Œil de Perdrix is 100% Pinot Noir. The range also includes a Brut Réserve, a Grand Cru Prestige Brut and a Demi-Sec, among others.
