Champagne Didier Goussard is a wine house located at 69 Rue du Général de Gaulle in Les Riceys (Aube), on the slopes of the Côte des Bar. The Goussard family has practised winegrowing there for many generations, with Didier Goussard, a qualified oenologist, further developing the house in the 1990s. A second vineyard was added in 2007, and since 2008 Marie-Hélène Goussard has run the œnotourisme activities and the reception in the cellars.
The estate has been TERRA VITIS-certified since the 2012 harvest and is part of the G.D.V. (Groupement de Développement Viticole), which underlines its commitment to sustainable viticulture and alternative growing techniques. The vineyards are dominated by the grape varieties Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, which allow the characteristic expression of the terroir.
The champagnes are produced through hand harvesting and champenois pressing. The must is turned into clear wines, and in spring the assemblage process follows, in which different cuves and reserve wines are combined on the basis of tasting. The result is then placed in the stone vaulted cellars for ageing, before the bottle is opened.
Some well-known cuvées from Didier Goussard are:
- Terroir Tentation: a Blanc de Noirs with a brut dosage.
- Esprit Elégant: a classic brut champagne.
- The prices for these cuvées are generally between €20 and €30.
