Champagne Camille Savès is an independent producer based in Bouzy, a Grand Cru village in the Montagne de Reims. The Savès family has been present in the village since 1894; the house was officially founded by Eugène Savès, an agronomist, when he married Anaïs Jolicoeur, the daughter of a wine producer. Since 1982 the house has been run by the fourth generation, Hervé Savès, who succeeded his father Camille.
The vineyards cover approximately 10 to 13 hectares and are located in Grand and Premier Cru areas, mainly in Bouzy, but also in Ambonnay and Tours-sur-Marne. The soil consists of chalk and chromium, and the average age of the vines is 35 to 40 years. The grape varieties are Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The house practises cultivated viticulture (raisonnée) and the wines are produced according to the traditional method, with vinification sometimes taking place under wood (oak barrels).
The champagnes are known for their structured, fruity and precise style, with an emphasis on terroir expression. Important cuvées are:
- Carte d’Or: A non-vintage blend of 75% Pinot Noir and 25% Chardonnay, entirely Grand Cru from Bouzy.
- Vintage Brut: Usually 80% Pinot Noir and 20% Chardonnay, with long ageing on the lees (often 6-7 years).
- Brut Rosé: Made from 100% Grand Cru grapes from Bouzy, with Pinot Noir still added.
- Les Loges Blanc de Noirs: An extra brut from specific plots.
Visitors can visit and taste at the cellar and estate, exclusively by appointment. The address is 4 rue de Condé, 51150 Bouzy.
