Champagne Aurelien Lurquin
Champagne house in Champagne.
Champagne Aurélien Lurquin is a small grower in Romery who makes his own champagnes and produces only a few thousand bottles a year. The estate was still little known a few years ago, but its cuvées are now highly sought after.
- Vineyards and terroir: The vineyards are farmed organically and biodynamically. Aurélien Lurquin is a member of the Des pieds et des vins association, which promotes terroir-driven champagne.
- Approach and style: The wines are made by hand, without additives. Fermentation takes place with native yeasts, after which the wines age for a long time in barrel. They are neither filtered nor dosed.
- Cuvées: The range includes Les Forcières (also as a rosé), a Chardonnay made as a blanc de blancs brut nature, Les Traverses and Les Crayères du Levant, a Pinot Meunier from a single plot in Romery of which only a few hundred bottles and magnums are made. The estate also produces Coteaux Champenois.
