Champagne Alain Navarre is a family business based in Passy-sur-Marne (Aisne, France) on the edge of the Marne Valley. The estate is known for its independent winemaking and its High Environmental Value (HVE) certification.
History and Management
The Navarre family has been active as winegrowers on the same soil for four generations. Alain Navarre took over in 1980 and has produced champagne ever since. The business is currently run by his daughter Marjorie and her husband Arnaud, who represent the fourth generation. Production includes both wine and champagne, with the family managing the full cycle from grape to bottle.
Vineyards
The vineyards cover approximately 10.05 hectares on south-facing slopes in the Vallée de la Marne Ouest, between Château-Thierry and Dormans. The estate has three grape varieties:
- Pinot Noir: 30% of the area.
- Meunier: 40% of the area.
- Chardonnay: 30% of the area.
Approach
Alain Navarre is an independent winegrower (Vigneron Indépendant), which means they grow and process their own grapes. They take a respectful approach to the ecosystem and biodiversity, confirmed by the HVE certification. Visitors can visit the cellar and vineyards by appointment, where the entire process from pressing to bottling is shown.
