Champagne Abel Jobart is a family business from Sarcy (Marne), founded in 1975 by Abel Jobart, whose three sons (Laurent, Thierry and Vincent) took over the operation in 2002. The winery is HVE certified and practises sustainable farming, focusing on preserving tradition combined with modern techniques.
The vineyard covers 13 hectares in the heart of Champagne, spread over several municipalities such as Poilly and Marzilly, and benefits from the fertile clay-limestone and sandy soils. The grape varieties are dominated by Pinot Meunier (80%), supplemented with Pinot Noir (10%) and Chardonnay (10%), resulting in champagnes with a characteristic fruity and round taste.
The approach includes hand harvesting and full processing of its own grapes in its own cellars, which guarantees exclusivity. Vinification takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, with optional oak barrels, and the remuage (turning of the bottles) is still done by hand on wooden pupitres, followed by disgorgement with ice glaze.
The range includes, among others, Brut Selection (100% Pinot Meunier), Brut Réserve (Meunier/Chardonnay), Brut Rosé, Brut Prestige (all three varieties), Blanc de Blancs (Chardonnay) and Millesime cuvées. Production is approximately 30,000 to 60,000 bottles per year, intended for an international clientele that includes France, Belgium, Great Britain, Italy, Switzerland, Germany, Japan and China.
