Montgenost is a small village in the south of the Sézannais, not far from Villenauxe-la-Grande (Marne department). The commune has no cru status.
The Sézannais is an extensive wine area on slopes with a varied subsoil, where clay-rich and chalk-rich soils alternate within short distances. Chardonnay is the main grape, alongside Pinot Noir. The champagnes are generally ripe, round and approachable.
- Producers: Benoît Cocteaux is based in Montgenost, with plots in the Sézannais and also in the Côte des Blancs. The Marie Copinet family estate also has its base here.
