Courmas is a small wine village in the Marne department, about fifteen kilometres south-west of Reims, in the Petite Montagne de Reims. Neighbouring villages include Bouilly, Ville-Dommange and Pargny-lès-Reims. The village has no cru classification.
- Vineyards: the soils consist of calcareous clay and stony ground with flint. Meunier is the main grape.
- Character: the champagnes are fruity and round, with the suppleness of meunier and a fresh note from the cooler Petite Montagne.
- Producers: Courmas has several family businesses, including Minard & Filles, Simon Rion, Yann Alexandre and Xavier Alexandre. Yann Alexandre works with a large number of small plots around the village.
The quiet village lies on a dead-end road and has a restored wash house and the park of the former château of Commétreuil.
