Champagne Marc Houelle is a Récoltant-Manipulant (planteur-champagneur) based in Passy-Grigny (Marne), France, with a vineyard of approximately 6 hectares. The grapes are grown according to the principles of raisonnée viticulture (balanced, environmentally conscious viticulture) on soils rich in chalk, marl and limestone.
The winemaking follows the traditional method (méthode champenoise), with the wine ageing in the bottle on laths. The heritage of the house is honoured by the Brut Tradition, a 100% Pinot Meunier that was created in 1974 and reflects the identity of the village of Passy-Grigny. The grape varieties include, besides Pinot Meunier, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
The portfolio of Marc Houelle includes various cuvées, including:
- Brut Tradition: The core cuvée, 100% Pinot Meunier.
- Brut Réserve: A delicate balance between the three main varieties.
- Blanc de Noirs: A limited run from selected plots.
- Brut Rosé: Fresh, fruity and exotic in style.
- Demi-Sec: Sweet and silky thanks to the dosage.
- Soupir d'Excellence: A long-aged cuvée for complex aromas.
- Meunier d'Antan: Made in oak barrels, referring to traditional methods.
- Ratafia Champenois: A liqueur based on grape juice and distillate (Meunier or Chardonnay).
