Champagne Jacquart is a modern champagne house from Reims, founded in 1962 (or 1964, depending on the source) by a cooperative of winegrowers. Since 1998 the house has been part of Alliance Champagne, a large cooperative grouping that accounts for about 7% of the total vineyard area in Champagne. The head office is located in the historic Hôtel de Brimont on the Boulevard Lundy.
History and Vineyards
The house emerged from the merger of three cooperatives and is supported by about 1,800 winegrowers. Although the group as a whole manages more than 2,600 hectares, about 350 hectares (or 400 ha according to some sources) are reserved exclusively for Jacquart's cuvées. These vineyards are spread over more than 60 crus in the prestigious regions of the Montagne de Reims, Côte des Blancs, Vallée de la Marne and Côte des Bar. The grape varieties are Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier, with a strong emphasis on Chardonnay for freshness and finesse.
Winemaking and Style
Jacquart is known for its fresh, elegant and accessible style. The cellar master (since 2020 Joëlle Weiss) works with a wide variety of terroirs and years to ensure a consistent profile, with great emphasis on long ageing in the cellars. The house follows the philosophy "Made in, made by, made for", meaning that the grapes come from its own vineyards, the vinification process is fully under control, and the product is made for the world market. The champagnes are characterised by a straightforward, light and refined character.
Main Champagnes
The range has recently been centralised around a core of cuvées:
- Brut Mosaïque: The emblematic cuvée, a blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier with a light dosage, known for its balance and fruitiness.
- Blanc de Blancs: Made from 100% Chardonnay, often vintage, with notes of citrus, white flowers and minerality.
- Cuvée Prestige Alpha: The top cuvée, a blend of Pinot Noir from Grand Crus and Chardonnay from Premier Crus, known for its complexity and depth.
- Extra Brut: A dry champagne with less than 4 g/l sugar, with long ageing for a balance between ripeness and freshness.
- Rosé Mosaïque: An elegant rosé with a fine mousse, made from a blend of white and red wines.
Since 2025 visitors can once again visit the house for tastings at the Hôtel de Brimont, including a unique "Sound Experience" that combines taste and hearing.
