Champagne Gruet is a family business based in Buxeuil (Côte des Bar, Champagne), where the Gruet family has been rooted since 1670. The first champagnes under the Gruet name were launched in 1975 by Claude Gruet, and the business is now run by his son Pierre-Charles.
Vineyards and Grapes The estate uses a rare diversity of grape varieties, including Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Pinot Meunier, Pinot Blanc and Arbane. The vineyards lie in the heart of the Côte des Bar, a region with soils rich in carbonate-bearing clay (baux). Since 2020 the maison has followed a sustainable approach with Terra Vitis and HVE 3 (High Environmental Value) certifications.
Winemaking and Visits Gruet combines traditional methods with modern technology, with the champagnes ageing in its historic cellars in Buxeuil. Visitors can book a guided cellar visit and tasting (1h30) for €18, during which three champagnes are served. The tasting is free with the purchase of at least six bottles. For groups, the house also offers a seminar room with a capacity of 70 people.
Champagnes and Prices The extensive range includes classic bruts, vintages and special cuvées made from rare grapes:
- Brut Sélection: Classic blend of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier.
- Cuvée des 3 Blancs: A blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc and Arbane (Blanc de Blancs).
- Cuvée Arbane & Pinot Blanc: Single-varietal champagnes from rare grapes.
