Mutigny is a small wine village in the Marne department (51), on a hill above Aÿ, in the Grande Vallée de la Marne, north-east of Épernay.
- Cru: Mutigny has Premier Cru status.
- Vineyards: the vineyards lie higher than those of Aÿ, on the slopes and foothills of the Montagne de Reims. Pinot noir is the dominant grape, on limestone soils.
- Character: pinot noir from Mutigny gives powerful, structured champagnes, with a little more freshness owing to the higher altitude.
- Surroundings: the village lies between the forests of the Montagne de Reims and the vineyards of the Grande Vallée; a footpath runs through the vineyards with a view over the Marne valley.
