Channes is a small wine village in the Aube department, in the far south of Champagne, close to the borders with the Yonne and Côte-d'Or departments. It belongs to the Côte des Bar and the Barséquanais and has no cru status.
- Location: near Les Riceys and Bar-sur-Seine, in the border area with Burgundy.
- Vineyards: as everywhere in the Côte des Bar, pinot noir is the main grape. The soils consist largely of lime-rich marl.
- Wines: round, fruity champagnes with the red fruit of pinot noir.
- History: a well-sited slope near Channes lay abandoned for a long time and was replanted with vines in the second half of the twentieth century.
- Producer: Guilleminot is based in the village.
