Balnot-sur-Laignes lies in the Côte des Bar in the Aube department, in the valley of the Laignes, close to Les Riceys. The village falls within the Barséquanais, the wine area around Bar-sur-Seine, and has no cru status.
- Location: in the far south of Champagne, on the slopes along the Laignes.
- Vineyards: pinot noir is the main grape, complemented by chardonnay. As elsewhere in the Côte des Bar, the subsoil consists of lime-rich Kimmeridgian marl.
- Wines: the champagnes are usually full and fruity, with the emphasis on the red fruit of pinot noir.
- Producer: the champagne house Gremillet is based in Balnot-sur-Laignes.
