Vendémiaire An XIII is a family estate in Meurville, a small village in the Côte des Bar in the Landion valley. The 4.30-hectare family business is run, together with her sister Lys, by Sophie Ducceschi, who has been a grower since 2006 after a career at the French Ministry of Agriculture and succeeded her parents. The vineyard was created by the family's ancestors in the Republican era; the name refers to Vendémiaire, the month of the harvest, and to Year XIII, when the first son of these pioneers was born in Meurville.
Vineyards The 24 plots are planted with 60% Pinot Noir, 10% Meunier and 30% white varieties (Chardonnay and Pinot Blanc); some vines are more than 40 years old. About half lies on the Mer-sur-Mont plateau, the rest on Meurville slopes facing south-east to south-west, on clay-limestone soils. Most of the work is done by hand, and a few small plots are ploughed with the horse Bacchus. Since February 2021 the estate has been HVE level 3 certified.
