Champagne R.H. Coutier is a family estate in Ambonnay, a Grand Cru village in the Montagne de Reims.
- History: The Coutier family's winegrowing history in Ambonnay dates back to 1619. The estate is currently run by Antoine Coutier. In the 1940s the family was among the first to plant Chardonnay in Ambonnay, a bold choice at the time in a village known for Pinot Noir.
- Vineyards and terroir: The family farms around nine hectares spread over some forty plots, all in Ambonnay. Roughly one third is planted with Chardonnay and two thirds with Pinot Noir. The vineyards face south and south-east, on clay over chalky limestone.
- Approach and style: Harvesting is done by hand, and conversion to organic farming began in 2019. The house aims to combine the richness of Ambonnay with the tension and purity of Chardonnay.
- Cuvées: The range includes the Cuvée Tradition Brut Grand Cru, a Grand Cru Millésime, the Blanc de Blancs La Pierre aux Larrons and the Blanc de Noirs Le Bout du Clos.
