Champagne Pernet-Lebrun is a Récoltant-Manipulant in Mancy (south of Épernay) that has farmed vineyards since 1850 and has operated under the current brand name since the 1960s. The family, now in its fifth generation, manages 11-12 hectares of land on the Côteaux Sud d’Épernay and the Côte des Blancs, with a grape variety mix of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier.
Production is artisanal and follows the traditional method (méthode champenoise), with the ageing often lasting longer than the minimum requirement (e.g. 5 years for Argent Sol). The vineyards are managed according to sustainable viticulture (viticulture durable) or integrated cultivation (raisonnée), with manual harvest and use of traditional pressing methods.
The main cuvées include:
- Réserve Brut: A basic blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier (sometimes with Pinot Noir), sometimes also as Demi-Sec.
- Argent Sol Brut: A blend of 50% Chardonnay and 50% Pinot Meunier, aged at least 5 years.
- Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru: 100% Chardonnay, from Grand Cru areas.
- Authentick Millésimé: A vintage wine with equal parts of the three main cépages.
- Célébration Brut: A Blanc de Noirs of 100% Pinot Meunier from a plot with vines planted in 1930.
- Rosé Brut: Often a blend of Pinot Meunier, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
The estate also offers demonstrations and tastings on site. Contact details are: 3 rue de l'Ancien Moulin, 51530 Mancy, telephone 03 26 59 71 63, and e-mail [email protected].
