Champagne‌ Lutun is a family estate in Courtagnon, a village of 70 inhabitants in the heart of the Parc Naturel Régional de la Montagne de Reims. After studying engineering and spending some ten years in business, Aude and Vincent Jourdan-Lutun returned to the family estate in 2004, following on from Aude's parents and grandparents.

Vineyards

The 6 hectares of vines lie above the village on a south-facing slope. Meunier dominates, followed by chardonnay and pinot noir. The estate has farmed sustainably for many years: permanent grass cover, mechanical soil work, no insecticides since 2001 and protection of flowering hedgerows. Since 2018 it has been certified HVE and VDC (Viticulture Durable en Champagne).

Approach

The philosophy is to let nature express itself as fully as possible and to intervene as little as possible. Vinification takes place at a cooperative in which the estate is closely involved. Since 2006 a small share of the wines has been vinified and aged in oak barrels for the Fleur de Bois cuvée.
