Champagne Lejeune-Dirvang is an artisanal champagne house based in Tauxières-Mutry (Val de Livre), founded in 1991 by Jean Lejeune and Dominique Dirvang, although the Lejeune family have been winegrowers since 1592. Since 2014 the business has been run by the 13th generation, Guillaume and Carole Lejeune, who combine the tradition with their background in Burgundy.
The family owns 3.37 to 3.86 hectares of vineyard on the southern slopes of the Montagne de Reims, located in the Premier Cru village of Tauxières-Mutry and the Grand Cru villages of Louvois and Bouzy. The vineyards are planted 80% to 75% with Pinot Noir and 20% to 25% with Chardonnay. The philosophy is aimed at quality over quantity, with a production of approximately 4,500 bottles a year.
The method is strictly artisanal and ecological: no chemical weedkiller or insecticides are used, the harvest is manual and the wine is often aged in wooden barrels (205 litres) of local oak to add complexity. Guillaume Lejeune applies a Burgundian "climat" approach, in which plots are treated separately in order to reflect the terroir as authentically as possible.
The range includes several lines, including:
- Les Seilles d'Or: A 1er Cru blend (75% Pinot Noir, 25% Chardonnay) that represents the estate.
- Cuvée Robert Lejeune: A tribute to the grandfather, with separate cuvées such as Noir & Blanc (red/white blend), Pinot Noir (Grand Cru) and Chardonnay (Blanc de Blancs).
- Le Clos des Fourches: A series of single-parcel champagnes (e.g. 1st, 3rd and 4th edition) in Extra Brut or Doux.
- Les Hauts Barceaux: A Grand Cru Pinot Noir.
Visitors are welcome for cellar and vineyard visits by appointment, and the champagnes are available via the official website https://www.lejeunedirvang.shop.
