Laurent-Perrier is an independent family champagne house, founded in 1812 by André-Michel Pierlot and based in Tours-sur-Marne, at the crossroads of the Montagne de Reims, the Vallée de la Marne and the Côte des Blancs. The house is known for its innovative approach and a style characterised by freshness, elegance and purity.
History and Ownership
The history began when Eugène Laurent took over the company in 1881; after his death his widow Mathilde-Emilie Perrier gave the house the name Veuve Laurent-Perrier in 1887. In 1939 it was bought by Marie-Louise de Nonancourt, whose son Bernard de Nonancourt transformed the company into a global player from 1948. Today the house is run by his daughters Alexandra Pereyre de Nonancourt and Stéphanie Meneux de Nonancourt, with Olivier Vigneron as the current chef de cave.
Vineyards and Winemaking
The house has its own vineyards in Bouzy, Tours-sur-Marne and Ambonnay and applies sustainable viticultural practices. Distinctive innovations include the use of stainless steel tanks (since 1950) and the creation of the first non-dosé champagne (Grand Vin Sans Sucre) in 1889. Production focuses on a fresh style, often with a high share of Chardonnay and the exclusive use of macération of Pinot Noir for rosé.

The portfolio includes various innovative cuvées:
- Grand Siècle: The first cuvée de prestige (1957), a non-vintage blend of Grand Cru wines.
- Cuvée Rosé (1968): A maceration rosé, 100% Pinot Noir, a unique product in the Champagne region.
- Ultra Brut (1981): A very dry champagne that made the extra-brut concept popular again.
- Alexandra Rosé Millésimé: A limited vintage rosé, originally made as a wedding gift in 1987.
- Blanc de Blancs Brut Nature (2019): A non-dosé champagne made from 100% Chardonnay.
Laurent-Perrier champagnes are distributed in more than 120 countries and the house is known for its pursuit of quality without letting the champagne intimidate.
