Champagne Jean Michel is a family estate in Moussy, close to Épernay.
- History: The estate dates back to 1847 and has been run by the same family for five generations. The house's oldest cuvées go back to 1929.
- Vineyards and terroir: The vineyards are spread across nine crus around Moussy. The vines average around fifty years of age, which is very rare in the region.
- Approach and style: The house keeps old vintages on their lees in the cellar for a long time and disgorges them only later. The Premières Vendanges from the 1976 harvest, for example, spent forty-four years on its lees before being disgorged in 2021.
- Cuvées: Alongside its regular champagnes, such as the Carte Blanche, the Blanc de Blancs, the Cuvée Spéciale and a Meunier, the house releases late-disgorged (RD) old vintages, including vintages from the 1940s and 1950s, as well as the Premières Vendanges.
