Champagne Jean-Jacques Lamoureux is a family business based in Les Riceys (Côte des Bar), founded in 1947 by René Lamoureux and now run by the third generation, under the leadership of oenologist Vivien Lamoureux. The estate covers 12 hectares of vineyards on limestone-rich, clay soils (Kimmeridgian), which contributes to the mineral structure of the wines.
History and Winemaking
The family is known for its respect for the environment; the vineyards are certified under the HVE (Haute Valeur Environnementale) standards and the production has been awarded, among others, the Grand Prix d'Excellence at the Concours Général Agricole. Les Riceys is the largest village in Champagne, where the grapes can be used for three different appellations: Champagne, Coteaux Champenois and Rosé des Riceys.
Champagnes and Cuvées
The house produces a diverse collection, including:
- Les Amoureux: A rare 100% Pinot Blanc (Extra Brut), from old vines in Val Germain, with exotic aromas.
- Réserve: The core range, consisting of 99% Pinot Noir, fruity and aged in barrels.
- Trilogie: A blend of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier, aged in wood for complexity.
- Rosé des Riceys: A still rosé wine of 100% Pinot Noir, a speciality of the region.
Visitors can visit the cellar and taste on site at 27 Rue du Général de Gaulle.
